Forum: GratefulDead Subject: stella blue - ? king biscuit hour

Hey now, I remember hearing a version of Stella Blue many years ago on the King Biscuit radio show, it had to be a version from the 1970's. It had a great Jerry solo - this song to me was the 'best' choice for the slow post drumz Jerry song, and his solos often were both painful and sweet at the same time . Any clue to what show this was, and if not, some recommendations for good versions with that great guitar sound that we all love. Any year is good , all the years combine...........(just a dream......)

It was probably this one - the definitive version!

(Only said that so that people will disagree and suggest other "definitive" versions.)

The second link is an archived copy of the King Biscuit broadcast. You should spin the entire second set - it's a corker!

1974-06-18? that's a pretty famous one, and certainly one of the top versions. 1974-10-17 from the Grateful Dead Movie soundtrack is also excellent.
